Uniform and Equipment Requirements

Note: All required items must be obtained within one year of enlistment unless otherwise specified. If in doubt about period style, material, and color consult officers.

UNIFORMS (Enlisted Men)

JACKET (Required) Army of Northern Virginia pattern shell jacket, confederate gray with nine brass palmetto buttons on front, two on belt loops. NCO's to have french blue chevrons.

TROUSERS (Required) Enlisted man's foot style, confederate gray/ sky blue optional any period style, material or color.

HEADGEAR (Required) Forage cap, confederate gray with palmetto hat badge. (More authentic) Slouch hat of period style material and color.

SHIRT (Required) Any period style, material and color.

SUSPENDERS (Required) Correct period style, material and color.

SHOES (Required) Federal "Jefferson Bootee" or confederate brogan type shoes dyed black.

OVERCOAT (Optional) Enlisted man's foot style.

VEST ( Optional) Any period style, material and color.

ARMS AND EQUIPMENT:

MUSKET (Required) Three band percussion musket or rifle/musket (pattern 1853 Enfield preferred)

BAYONET (Required) Proper style for your musket.

SIDEARM (Optional) Bowie knife and sheath of period style, period revolver and holster. ***(Reminder...only officers and NCO's can carry revolvers on the battle field)

CANTEEN (Required) U.S. cloth covered tin, C.S. drum style or wooden.

HAVERSACK (Required) U.S. pattern tarred canvas or any C.S. pattern/period design.

BLANKET or QUILT (Required) Any period style, material & color.

SHELTER HALF (Required..with-in one year) White canvas, 1862 style. (Optional "A" tent or wedge tent)

LEATHER ACCOUTERMENTS (Required) Black leather cartridge box, with or without sling, cap box, bayonet scabbard and frog, and waist belt with S.C. plate( oval SC preferred). (Optional) Palmetto plate for cartridge box sling, russet leather or canvas belts and boxes for late war use.

PONCHO/GROUND CLOTH (Optional) Black rubberized or painted canvas.

MESS GEAR (Required) Tin plates, tin cup, fork and spoon, all of period style.
